Waterkloof Winery

Hey guys,

So my husband and I love nothing more than a glass of good wine…or three 🙂 and we are lucky enough to live in the most amazing area for wine…Cape Town! There are so many wine estates within easy driving distance of our house so I decided to blog about our wine adventures and share the places we think you might enjoy…

This Saturday we drove out to Somerset West to buy a new extractor fan for the kitchen. We are in the process of renovating our house and love getting bargains off Gumtree. When we discovered that Waterkloof was just down the road from where we were, we decided that (old Saturday clothes and all) we were going to give them a try!

First off…Waterkloof is faaaancy! I felt very undressed when I walked in, in my baggy t-shirt and very average attire. The glamazon at the door deigned to greet us and led us to the wine tasting area in the centre of the dining room, looking onto the spectacular views out over the city and ocean. The wine was excellent, broken up into several ranges, the False Bay (entry level), Peacock (slightly pricier.) and the premium ranges which were delicious but pretty expensive. waterkloof-6

The food coming out of the restaurant looked delicious!  The dining room has the most beautiful views out of the massive glass box set into the side of the building.

My wine pick for Waterkloof is the False Bay rosé. It was fruity, fun and had great acidity! At R52 a bottle (just sign up for the wine club online for 10 percent off) it was a bargain! We went home with 2 rosé, 2 False Bay Sauv Bland and 2 of the peacock range Merlot.

Cheers!
