We met our guide, Blessing, in the middle of a typical, Natal thunderstorm. Big drops of warm rain pattered down as we climbed onto the back of an open safari vehicle and set off for the forest lodge. Blessing kindly … Continue reading

So the Hubby and I have been looking forward to this trip for months! We booked ages ago through Zest 247 (a great website for SA specials by the way.)
In the end it actually worked out beautifully that we didn’t go on the drive as we got to relax on our own private deck overlooking the water hole. As we were sitting enjoying the silence and a cup of tea we heard a crackling coming from the bushes next to our room. Out of the bushes strode a giant elephant! Soon followed by four more and the cutest little baby ellie, all on their way to the water hole. What a beautiful sight, they were so close! Although it was sometimes an irritation not be able to walk to our room at night, experiences like these make the fact that the camp is completely unfenced worthwhile!
The lodge was the perfect place to put your feet up and read, eat and sleep! It was so quiet and miles away from any other people. we saw loads of animals, enjoyed many game drives and watched the sun set with a drink in hand every evening. ♥
The lodge itself was beautifully situated and decorated naturally with lots of wood and nature in mind.
The room was sooooo luxurious with an outside showers and big bath right in the window!
All in all this trip is summed up by a quote I found in one of the lodge’s coffee table books…
Too much of a good thing can be lovely…
